Jung - Sum was adopted into the family after his parents had died. He keeps believing that his parents are still out there somewhere. After realizing the fact that his parents are no longer with him he starts to get used to his new family whom keeps telling him to toughen up, so he takes up boxing. He finally finds a sense of belonging in both his family and in boxing but he starts to feel changes which will create an obstacle for him and his sense of belonging.

Boxing was considered big money during the 1940's though it was mostly about the gambling. People such as Ike Williams, Sugar Ray Robinson, Willie Pep were big names at the time. Many of them joined enlisted for war; approximately 4,000 professional boxers joined the military during the 1940's.
