Sekky recieved a red envelope by his babysitter Meiying before her death which comes later on in the story. On the Socials note it mentions that the red envelope does symbolize good luck, but at the same time it could also cause bad luck, or if your not careful, death. I did not realize that the red envelope was a foreshadow of Mei's death.

The Chinese give these red envelopes to their relatives during family gatherings. The color red supposidly symbolizes good luck. The money you get from the envelope usually ends with an even digit because apparently odd numbered gifts are related to funerals. And also number four in Chinese sounds very similar to the word death in Chinese, which is very unlucky.
